EDITORIAL TEAM

HUGH STODDART - Managing Editor

Hugh is a screenwriter and playwright. He worked as a writer for the Writers In Prison Network at HMP Brixton 1999-2001 and was a founder of NOT SHUT UP along with Michael Mulkerrin and Anna Robinson. He was a trustee until 2008 when he resigned to become Editor. www.hughstoddart.co.uk

ANNA ROBINSON - Poetry Editor

Anna is a poet and lecturer. She has undertaken this role from the inception of the magazine. She has worked in prisons both as a teacher and a librarian. Her solo collection of poems is published by Enitharmon. www.poetrypf.co.uk/annarobinsonpage.html

MATTHEW MEADOWS – Art Editor

Matthew is an artist. He has run many art projects in prisons and has an extensive knowledge of art made by prisoners. His book Insider Art is soon to be published by A&C Black. www.matthewmeadows.net

KATE PULLINGER (CHAIR)

Kate writes novels and short stories as well as digital fiction. She has worked as a writer in prisons and is currently Reader in Creative Writing and New Media at De Montfort University. Visit Kate’s website

JONATHAN DAVIES

Jonathan is a barrister; he has been working in the criminal law for thirty years and has been a recorder for nineteen years. He has written five novels and many short stories based upon his experiences at the Bar. www.187fleetstreet.com

TIMOTHY FIRMSTON

Tim is Head of Learning and Skills at HM Prison Belmarsh. He was line manager for three years to a writer ‘in residence’ for the Writers In Prison Network and has welcomed our writer-tutors since. He has extensive experience of managing and improving the quality of education and training with various partners in further education, and adult and community learning.

MAREK KAZMIERSKI

Writer, filmmaker, currently Head of Diversity at HMYOI Feltham. He is the founder of Apart Arts, a migrant artists’ association and currently leading on the OFF_PRESS Project, promoting contemporary Polish writing in translation. Visit www.off-press.org

SIMON KIRWIN

Simon is a doctor and psychiatrist. He works for an NHS drugs service for people with substance misuse problems, many of whom who have spent time in prison. He also writes poetry and songs, and occasionally performs them. www.simonkirwin.com

SARAH LEIPCIGER

Sarah moved to London after working for two years in Korea and Cambodia. She was editor-in-chief of Seoul Classified, the only English-language entertainment/cultural magazine there. She was writer-in-residence at HMP Feltham for three years and edited Write Out of Here: Words from Young Offenders in 2009 (available www.amazon.co.uk)

SIMON MILES

Simon Miles runs the NUJ Journalism course at Wandsworth Prison. He recently directed a play at London’s Pleasance Theatre written by one of his former Wandsworth students, Dean Stalham, and is involved with the Art Saves Lives charity set up by Dean. Visit Art Saves Lives.

ANNETTE PRANDZIOCH

Annette is a barrister specializing in property and commercial matters. She has a degree at Cambridge University and has a doctorate from Tübingen University in Germany. She particularly would like to assist in raising the profile of NOT SHUT UP. www.lambchambers.co.uk

RAPHAEL ROWE

Raphael spent twelve years in prison for a crime he didn’t commit. Subsequently he moved into journalism, working first in radio and then in television.
